Lightning Striking The Empire State Building
Just a cool picture of lightning striking the Empire State Building.

The Battle of Seattle
OK, maybe I’m stirring the pot a bit. But I still find it amusing. Head to head combat for workers has to be a good thing, right?
Sue Me
In an interesting turn of events, companies using open source software are asking Microsoft to sue them.
Vista Woes
I have heard there are issues with the new Vista version of Windows, but what happened to this guy takes the cake. Like a number of people I have been talking to lately, the person in the story is thinking about getting a Mac.
Hey, Are They Poking Fun At Java?
I think this hilarious Ruby on Rails video really says a lot about the difference between the Ruby and Java cultures. Regardless of what camp you are in, this is funny stuff.
Any guesses as to what is in the last jar? I’ve got mine.
One Big Grill
Last week I had the good fortune of eating a brat that was cooked on this grill. I would love to rent this thing for a Rams tailgate. You can read more about this Johnsonville grill here.

Microsoft Cries Wolf?
Microsoft claims that open source software violates 235 of its patents.
I think this is interesting, because Microsoft hasn’t actually brought forth a lawsuit or disclosed information about the violations. Is this something for the open source world to be worried about, or does this validate that open source is eating Microsoft’s lunch?
Raible’s 2007 Java Web Framework Comparison
Matt Raible just released his 2007 version of his Java Web framework comparison last week. This year’s comparison features Struts2, Spring MVC, MyFaces JSF, Tapestry, Stripes and Wicket.
The points I found most interesting in the comparison…
- Tapestry is more popular than Spring MVC and Struts2
- JSF seems to really be taking off
- The duplicate-post comparison is good stuff. I thought Struts2 (WebWork) had a built in solution for this.
Throw Away That Shrink Wrap
I think many of us have known for a while now that software as a service (SasS) is going to change the way people purchase software. This article is a nice confirmation of SaaS replacing shrink wrap software in today’s market. For me, the big question isn’t how this is going to affect the commercial software market, but how is it going to affect the IT software market?
St. Louis Code Camp
This is where I’ll be on Saturday. I didn’t make it to the inaugural code camp last year, so this is my first one. There is an exciting list of presentations on slate for this year’s camp. The web site is still accepting registrations, so sign up while you can.
