InfoQ has a nice round up of Java Web frameworks that are supporting the auto-reload feature. Anyone who has worked with a Java Web framework in the past will welcome this feature.

MetaMatrix To Be Acquired By Red Hat

MetaMatrix
Red Hat

MetaMatrix is a company I worked at in the past. They make data integration software used for retrieving data from multiple data sources. Today, Red Hat announced it is buying MetaMatrix and integrating it into its JBoss division. MetaMatrix has a great bunch of people working for it, many of whom I am still in touch with today. I also have a lot of respect for Red Hat, so congratulations and good luck to both companies.

A To-Do List I Can Live With

Stikkit

I’ve checked out a number of great online to-do lists, but none of them excited me enough to get me to actually use it. I’ve finally found one that I think changes that for me - Stikkit. It is simple, highly functional and beautifully designed. They are taking the art of the to-do list to a new level.

Stikkit has a cool feature that allows you to email tasks into it. Now, if I can just get Stikkit to work with Jott. So far I have been unsuccessful, as Stikkit is having a hard time correctly reading the incoming Jott email. Anyone out there who has done this successfully?

Straightforward and Simple

Emma

I have to agree with Seth on this one. Emma’s Web site is really nice and a good model for a B2B Web site. The Web site’s design is simple (yet contemporary), the artwork is nice and the words are straightforward and easy to understand. They even have up front pricing. Notice the lack of fancy widgets?

Alarming Patent Suit Filed Against Microsoft

Posted by Rob on April 21, 2007

A company named Vertical Computing Systems Inc. is suing Microsoft for a patent violation involving Microsoft’s .Net framework. The patent is for a “system and method for generating web sites in an arbitrary object framework.”

Let’s hope this patent doesn’t place countless other Web and application frameworks into Vertical Computing’s cross hairs.

Move Over JRuby

I must admit, I hadn’t heard of the XRuby project until today. Competition is a good thing. I’m glad to see the two projects have been talking on how to benefit from each other.

Microsoft’s Multicolored Bar Codes

Microsoft Bar Code

I find these innovative, multicolored bar codes from Microsoft very interesting to look at. Color is never something I thought of associating with bar codes. It will be interesting to see if these bar codes catch on and are used for products outside of Microsoft’s initial scope.
